3 Foods for a Healthy Smile

Posted .

Believe it or not, but your diet plays a major role in your appearance aside from your weight. Your diet can also affect your oral health, and compromise your currently healthy smile.

So a healthy diet benefits far more than just your waistline – it helps you maintain that oral health you desperately need.
In the interest of helping you find those tooth-friendly foods, our team here at Char Dental put together this list of some healthy foods that are proven to improve oral health.

Salmon

While not everyone likes fish, salmon is pretty universally liked. It contains omega-3 acids that prevent periodontal disease, and a ton of phosphorous – a material that rebuilds tooth enamel. If you have enamel issues, salmon is a great food choice for your diet.

Whole grains

If you have a family history of gum disease (periodontitis is hereditary, and in some cases it can’t be stopped even if you religiously brush, floss, and use mouthwash) then you’ll want to add a hearty dose of whole grains to your diet. People who eat whole grains are 23% less likely to develop gum disease.

Red wine

While wine is known for staining teeth, in small enough quantities it has many health benefits. It contains a ton of polyphenols, which prevent plaque buildup and tooth decay.

If you’re looking for a way to achieve better oral health – and systemic health – then we highly suggest you add these foods to your diet.
